Join Terra Trek as we bicycle through the old Southwest. Journey with us through riparian forests that stretch into high desert, along majestic rivers and across gorges. River raft at the base of the Rio Grande, hike to the ancient ruins and cliff dwellings of the Anasazi Indians, witness the influence of Spanish, Mexican and Native cultures through the architecture of homes, churches, galleries, shops and people local to this historic region. As each evening begins you will enjoy tranquil sunsets, indulge in exquisite cuisine and relax at the most luxurious inns New Mexico has to offer.

Day One
Santa Fe, "the City Different" will be the starting point of your TerraTrek vacation. Today you will have time to explore this city which is affluent in art, history, culture and scenery. This afternoon we warm up with a ride to Bandelier National Monument where we can visit ancient ruins and cliff dwellings. We'll enjoy our first dinner together at the Coyote Café, voted the number one restaurant in Santa Fe by locals. Afterwards we will retreat to the grand Inn of the Anasazi in Santa Fe. Rated top 25 by Conde Nast Traveler's Reader Poll, this luxurious inn makes it easy to relax and prepare for more adventure and cycling tomorrow.

Day Two
After an amazing breakfast accented with local Southwestern flair, we cycle along the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. We will ride past cholla cane cacti stopping for lunch at a living Indian Pueblo. Afterwards, hike up the side of a mountain to view of one of New Mexico's few waterfalls. We then head out towards the idyllic village of Chimayo. Here you can visit Sanctuario de Chimayo, where each Easter thousands of people pilgrimage to seeking healing from the sacred sand that the church is built upon. This small town is abundant with history and culture dating back four hundred years! You may want to browse local arts and craft shops filled with native treasures. As the day comes to a close we will treat you to Santa Fe's fabulous four star, four diamond, Anasazi Restaurant. Tonight you can check out the local night life or draw a bath and cozy up next to the fireplace in your room.

Day Three
We set out biking along the Jemez Mountains, past eminent red rock formations. Lunch will be served in a country setting near the home of the famous painter Georgia O'Keefe. We pedal on towards a ghost ranch where you can watch Paleontologists extract ancient fossils from red rock found in the hills above the ranch. Afterwards, we bike towards the Echo Amphitheater, a naturally carved out rock formation that will leave a lasting impression on you. Tonight we retreat to the exquisite Rancho de San Juan or Las Parras de Abiquiu, both set in the middle of the desert among juniper and pinion trees. Tonight we will head to Espanola for truly authentic New Mexican cuisine at El Paragua.

Day Four
On the fourth day we'll set off for Taos. We will cycle through the Kit Carson National Forest, over plateaus, and into the base of Rio Grande Gorge where you will experience some of the most beautiful land New Mexico has to offer. We will eat lunch next to the river and then cycle along the base to Pilar. Once you arrive at Taos you will be able to revive your body and soul in the comfort of your room at the four star Casa de las Chimeneas. Tonight we will have dinner at Doc Martins restaurant located in the heart of Taos.

Day Five
Today will be spent in Taos. On this day we will explore the Rio Grande aboard a river raft and then take the afternoon to visit the Taos Pueblo. This Pueblo is thousands of years old, abundant with art, history and culture. After these unforgettable experiences you can enjoy a relaxed homemade dinner prepared by Tracy at Casa de las Chimeneas and then head to town for some New Mexican night life!

Day Six
On the last day of your vacation we will cycle the High Road to Santa Fe; a beautiful scenic road that takes us past many northern frontier settlement towns and offers spectacular vistas. We will have our last meal together in Santa Fe where we will bid each other farewell until your next TerraTrek vacation!
